We spent an hour at lunch discussing our crash and burn from yesterday, brooding and doing a postmortem of the meeting.

We agreed that in future we should probably not argue incessantly with the person whom we wanted to write us a big cheque, and certainly not when it was really a philosophical debate.

Then we kept telling ourselves that it was a great lesson to learn; early on.

The fact that we had to eat humble pie the first time out of the practice ring, we expected would keep us firmly rooted in reality in the future. And make us stronger and more determined to prove the man wrong - by succeeding.

The truth is that we say these things to make ourselves feel better every day.

In this instance, when you embark down the path we had chosen, you must have near blind faith and belief in both your idea and your unique ability to deliver it.

But at the same time you must be receptive to good advice and be willing ot learn, adapt and pivot along the way to make your idea better.

It is a delicate and thick-skinned balance once must find to between reality and the pursuit of a dream.

Then we told ourselves that it was a great lesson to learn; early on.
